How does it remove vocals?+
Most songs mix vocals to the centre of the stereo field. We cancel the centre channel to remove the vocals, leaving an instrumental/karaoke track, and emphasise the centre to extract a best-effort vocals track.
Why does my file need to be stereo?+
Channel-based separation relies on the difference between the left and right channels. A mono file has no channel difference, so vocals cannot be separated.
How good is the quality?+
Results are great on most studio stereo mixes but approximate: centre-panned instruments (kick, snare, bass) may also be reduced, and the isolated-vocals track can carry some instrumentation.
