Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an Editif account, we collect your name, email address, and password (securely hashed). If you purchase credits, we collect payment information processed securely by our payment provider (Razorpay). We do not store your full credit card details.
Files You Upload
When you use our AI-powered tools (subtitle generation, cloud transcription), you upload audio/video files to our servers for processing. These files are encrypted during transit and at rest, and are automatically deleted after processing is complete.
Browser-Based Processing
Our free browser-based tools (video editing, image compression, background removal, free transcription) process your files entirely on your device using WebAssembly technology. These files are never uploaded to our servers — your data stays on your machine.
Usage Data
We automatically collect basic usage data such as pages visited, browser type, device type, IP address, and referring URLs. This helps us improve performance and user experience.
How We Use Your Information
Service Delivery
We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve our services — including processing your files, managing your account, and handling credit transactions.
Communication
We may send you transactional emails (account verification, password resets, payment receipts). We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
Analytics & Improvement
Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us understand how our tools are used, identify performance bottlenecks, and prioritize new features.
Data Security
Encryption
All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3. Files uploaded for AI processing are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
Secure Infrastructure
Our servers are hosted on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure with continuous monitoring, regular security audits, and automated threat detection.
Access Controls
Access to user data is strictly limited to essential service operations. Our team follows the principle of least privilege — no one has access to your files beyond what's needed for processing.
Data Retention & Deletion
Uploaded Files
Files uploaded for AI subtitle generation and cloud transcription are automatically deleted from our servers after processing is complete. We do not retain your media files.
Transcription Results
Transcription text, SRT, and VTT outputs are stored in your account history so you can access them later. You can delete individual results or your entire history at any time.
Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us. Upon receiving your request, we will permanently delete all your data within 30 days.
Third-Party Services
Payment Processing
Credit purchases are processed by Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. Your payment details are handled directly by Razorpay and are not stored on our servers.
AI Models
Our cloud transcription service uses OpenAI's Whisper model running on our own infrastructure. Your audio data is not sent to OpenAI or any other third party — all AI processing happens on our own servers.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand usage patterns. We do not sell or share your personal data with third-party advertisers.
Your Rights
Access & Portability
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you and request a copy of your data in a portable format.
Correction & Deletion
You can update your profile information at any time through your account settings. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data.
Consent Withdrawal
Where we process data based on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. This includes opting out of any communications.
Transcription Widget & API
Widget Data Processing
When website owners embed our Transcription Widget, files uploaded through the widget are processed on our servers under the same security and retention policies described above. Widget operators are responsible for informing their users about data processing.
API Keys
Widget API keys authenticate requests and track usage. API keys should be kept confidential. We log API usage for billing and abuse prevention purposes.
Changes to This Policy
Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
